La Casa del Pocito is a restored colonial rowhouse with 18´ceilings, thick stone walls, cool tile floors, a Moroccan-inspired pool and an interior courtyard that allows light to filter into the interior spaces. Well-known architect Salvador Reyes Rios restored this house to its original charm, seamlessly modernizing the systems without sacrificing any of the character. Interior and exterior spaces become transparent thanks to the openness of the architecture.
The current owners have thoughtfully made their own mark on this beautiful house. They have furnished and accessorized La Casa del Pocito with artwork from their own collection, antiques from the area and other pieces that have been made according to their own designs especially for the house. The interiors of the house reflect a relaxed luxury and reference the restrained interiors of Andalusian Spain. A few modern touches and some saturated color have been thrown in to mix things up a bit. The result is a soothing, uncluttered, comfortable place that you may find difficult to leave.
La Casa del Pocito includes lots of room for entertaining or relaxing in the formal sala, a comedor that seats 6 or 8, a courtyard with a quiet fountain, and an intimate study that looks out onto the pool and walled garden. There are two air conditioned bedrooms, including one with an impressive painted 4 poster bed with antique gilt flourishes. The master bedroom overlooks the pool with its wrought iron canopy bed made by a local craftsman. Two modern bathrooms with step in showers retain their original character with antique tiles. A typical Mayan kitchen has polished concrete counters and an antique tall cupboard. The cocina is equipped with everything you'll need to prepare simple meals at home if you wish.
